How Multimounts solved a serious problem

A large international magazine publisher engaged a designer to upgrade their Auckland offices. Their design included displaying large copies of their current magazine covers, each held between two panels of acrylic, up on the walls in their entry foyer and reception area. The panels were secured with Pizazz’s two-part standoffs, Monomounts. The back panel was clear acrylic, and the slightly larger back panel was frosted acrylic, which created a subtle border around the cover images.

The magazine publisher’s management was very happy with their new offices and the magazine cover displays. They liked the visual impact the covers had because there were no picture frames competing for visual attention with the cover images.

After several weeks, the publisher’s receptionist, who had been given the job of changing the large copies of the magazine covers, called. She explained that she was finding it very difficult because when she unscrewed the front screws of the Monomounts, everything was released. She had to take the two panels down from the wall, replace the large flimsy cover image, and then get the new image and panels back up on the wall, keeping everything aligned correctly while reinstalling the front screws into the Monomounts. She was concerned about possibly dropping a panel and damaging it, the image, the wall, or the furniture.

We understood her problem and created the solution: our three-part Multimounts. We did this by turning the front screw of the Monomount into two parts. The first part would secure the back panel in place, so that when the second part securing the cover image and front panel was unscrewed, all that would be released was the cover image and front panel. The back panel would remain secured on the wall.

This solution made changing the graphic images easy, fast, and safe.

We called our new standoffs Multimounts, and it became our first patent.
