Why Denver Water selected Pizazz Monomounts for their reception displays

Denver Water operates a substantial system of facilities and infrastructure to deliver water to millions of people in the city of Denver and its many surrounding suburbs in Colorado, USA. Because the reservoirs and treatment plants are in distant, remote locations and the extensive pipeline and tunnel network is located underground. Denver Water customers have little awareness of what it takes to deliver the high quality water that they enjoy.

To increase awareness, Sabrina Hall, Denver Water Communications Manager commissioned Tim O’Hara to photograph the facilities for use in displays and publications. A series of framed photos of the reservoirs was planned for the recently remodeled lobby in the Denver Water headquarters building. Sabrina contacted TaCito Design to size and arrange the photographs on the wall.

Karen TaCito and partner Bob Gnaegy proposed that the photos should have more visual impact with added dimension, like the interpretive graphics seen in museums. TaCito Design created a display of eight acrylic image panels (3’ x 5’ x ¼”) mounted to the wall using standoffs to add dimension, highlight, and shadow to the presentation. Their concept also included eight smaller (12” x 12” x 1/8”) translucent text panels, layered on top of the image panels for even more depth and visual interest. Each combination of panels highlighted O’Hara’s spectacular photos of individual reservoirs, along with a description of its role in the water system.

TaCito Design contacted Tom Tucker of Vision Graphics Denver to fabricate the displays. They installed the photographs onto the second surface (back) of the acrylic panels. Tom advised that this option would enhance the color and contrast of the photos, thereby maximizing their visual impact. The text panels are digitally printed directly onto the first surface of the acrylic.

The size of the standoffs used to mount the panels to the wall was specified by TaCito Design to vary in proportion to the size of the panels. Vision Graphics contacted Tom Stageberg of Laird Plastics in Denver to find high-quality, multi-function standoffs in the necessary size range. Laird Plastics distribute Pizazz Standoff Systems.

Tom Stageberg recommended Pizazz Aluminum mono-mounts and demonstrated that they provided both the multi-layering functionality and size selection required for the project.

When fabrication was complete, Vision Graphics provided installation templates, making it easy for Denver Water staff to install the displays.

Denver Water is delighted with the completed installation and has commissioned and installed another display featuring Denver Water Values. Additional displays focusing on ‘The history of Denver Water’ and ‘A day in the life of Denver Water’ will complete the lobby displays and bring their complete story to their customers.
